After the look-up tests, JSpamFilter performs a variety of content-based tests as part of the
examination of incoming email messages.
-
These tests scan the document for key words and phrases and work in conjunction with the document mark-up filters described in the next section.
| The key word and key phrase tests are organized into a two-tiered framework: |
- Key word and key phrase searches based on the entries in the Filter File
- Conditional Sub-Searches Triggered by Other Filter Hits
| A filter "hit" occurs when JSpamFilter finds content in the message that corresponds to
an entry in the Filter File. JSpamFilter searches the buffered portion of the incoming message* for the key words and phrases to
determine how the message score is adjusted. |
| The amount of the message that is buffered is set in the JSpamFilter.conf file. Increasing the buffer size increases processor utilization somewhat. For details see the manual section Part 5 (jspamfilter.conf: JSpamFilter License and Log Directory) |
